Individual Book Grants
Grants for a wide range of titles, both fiction and non-fiction, including literary works, for adults and children.
Programme Grants
Grants, offered annually, for publishing programmes consisting of at least 10 titles. A publisher must have published books under the Individual Book Grants Scheme before being able to apply to become a Programme Grant Publisher.
Payments for Authors
Grants which enable publishers to offer competitive commissions and payments to authors for works of wide appeal, for adults and children.
Payments for Illustrators and Photographers
Grants which enable publishers to commission original work for illustrated books for adults and children.

Grants toward the cost of employing creative editors.
Marketing Grants: Launches and Signing Tours
Grants towards book launches and author signing tours.
Magazines and Periodicals
A wide range of leisure magazines of broad appeal, for adults and children, are currently being supported, together with periodicals which are concerned, in whole, or part, with literature, the arts or cultural matters. (This latter group was supported by the Literature Grant, then administered by the Arts Council of Wales, until March 2003.) The Council awards franchises to magazines and periodicals for a period of up to three years. The present franchise period is April 2009-March 2012, and the Council intends to invite applications for the following period in the summer of 2011. This means that grants for magazines and periodicals have been promised until March 2012, and no new applications can be supported in the meantime.
Talking Book Grants
Annual grants towards talking books programmes for adults and children, in CD or cassette format.
CD-ROM Grants
Grants toward the cost of publishing CD-ROMs, containing popular leisure material, particularly for children of primary school age.
Games Grants
Grants toward the cost of publishing games, for adults and children, in which the use of language is central.
