CHRISTMAS BOOKS GIVEN THE STAR TREATMENT

Griffilms, the Caernarfon-based animation company, have this year been commissioned by the Welsh Books Council to prepare its Christmas television advertisements.

Griffilms is a well established company, specialising in the field of animation, having produced programmes for S4C and Channel 4. The company also produced animation for the satirical series Cnex, which has recently started its fourth series on S4C.

The Books Council, in cooperation with the publishers, has commissioned four adverts featuring a selection of books for children and adults. As part of the campaign, 24 titles were featured.

‘We are always looking for an original, lively way to present the books on screen,’ said Helgard Krause, Head of the Sales and Marketing team, ‘and animation seemed to fit the bill perfectly.’

Hywel Griffith for Griffilms, who have offices in Caernarfon and Cardiff, said: ‘It was a great pleasure to be part of the Books Council’s Christmas campaign which we sincerely hope will boost sales of books from Wales.’

Helgard Krause added: ‘With our Christmas supplements Books from Wales and Gwledd y Nadolig having been distributed extensively, and with the television advertisements running from now until Christmas, we hope that the public will be aware of the range of books published. The publishers have produced an exciting selection of books this year, and we would urge everyone to browse through the choice available at local bookshops.’
