TWO NEW CATALOGUES TO PROMOTE CHILDRENS BOOKS
The Welsh Books Council have recently published two catalogues
to promote the extensive range of childrens books
available in Welsh and in English.
The Welsh Books and Educational Resources Catalogue
2001, which is published with the support of the Qualifications,
Curriculum and Assessment Authority for Wales (ACCAC),
has been re-designed this year. It is a comprehensive
list of 3,500 Welsh-language titles, 360 of which are
new titles, thereby extending the provision of leisure
and educational books.
To coincide with the publication of the Welsh-language
catalogue, the Wales in English brochure has also
been published and distributed with the support of the
Arts Council of Wales. The aim of this publication is
to list all books and other Welsh-interest materials in
the English language. As well as bibliographic details
of each entry under different categories, the catalogue
contains an useful index by title, author and illustrator.
Together, these catalogues form a wonderful source
of information about childrens books from Wales,
said Menna Lloyd Williams, Head of the Childrens
Books Department.
