WALES BOOK OF THE MONTH

Following the success of Nofel y Mis (Novel of the Month) – the campaign to promote Welsh-language novels – the Books Council are now launching a similar campaign to promote new English-language books from Wales under the title Wales Book of the Month.

The campaign was launched at the beginning of April with the title Eat Well in Wales 2001 edited by celebrity chef Gilli Davies which was published by the Western Mail and distributed by the University of Wales Press.

‘We are confident that this campaign will be an excellent way to promote new English-language books from Wales,’ said Phil Davies, Head of Marketing at the Books Council. ‘The Welsh-language novel of the month campaign has been a great success and we are sure that this campaign will have the same response.’

A number of bookshops have already joined the scheme, and have received stock of the first title as well as promotional posters and display cards. ‘With new titles being promoted each month, readers will have a great opportunity to know what’s on offer,’ added Phil Davies.
