New Books for 2012
As Falling in love with reading is the theme of this year's campaign, the 2012 titles from Wales will be launched on St. Dwynwen's Day, 25 January, in Cardiff and Anglesey.
11.30am Y Senedd, Cardiff Bay, in the company of Jeff Cuthbert, the Welsh Government’s Deputy Minister for Skills, and Helen Lederer, Dave Roberts and Robert Earnshaw
6.30pm Neuadd Pritchard Jones, Newborough, Anglesey
Since its launch in 2006, the Quick Reads / Stori Sydyn initiative has distributed over 3 million books through supermarkets, bookshops, libraries, workplaces, prisons, colleges, projects for travellers and the homeless and many more outlets. The books have introduced hundreds of thousands of new people to the pleasures of reading, and have encouraged existing readers to read more. They have reached some of the most struggling and economically deprived people across the UK and Ireland, helping to improve access to reading and transforming lives.
Delyth Humphreys, Head of Children’s Books and Reading Promotion at the Welsh Books Council, said: "The Quick Reads / Stori Sydyn campaign is gaining momentum all the time and encouraging thousands of people across Wales to give reading a go, many of whom may never have read a book before. We hope that reading will also spark a few romances, or may have done in the past. If so, we would love to hear about them.

"The sixteen new titles for 2012 offer a fascinating mix of subject matters and should appeal to a wide range of people. And with London 2012 on everyone’s mind, sport is certainly well represented."
